Permanent Link measurements are performed with a Channel Adapter and quality patchcords. The only real difference in this type of an adapter configuration is that IDEAL has replaced the soldered connection that interfaced the test lead patch cord to the adapter (as is typically used by tester manufacturers) with a mated-pair connection. IDEAL engineers were able to achieve this with advanced adapter PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) which exhibit low losses and repeatability from measurement to measurement. These PCBs coupled with the implementation of phase measurements allows IDEAL to dynamically remove the effects of the mated-pair connection. It also solves the problem of plug wear. Simply replace the patchcords that have worn plugs with new good quality patchcords, recalibrate and continue testing.
